Unityzero
Would love to see Minefields added to the game. There could be commands for creating or defusing mines / fields and would create alot of gameplay around defending sectors or for navigating hostile sectors
0 MoreChainguns!
I assume you mean having a bunch of small, AI 'vessels' that are magnetically drawn towards ships that pass within a certain range, right? Maybe having the damage equivalent to 5-ish torpedoes of a level relative to the sector's closeness to the Center?
0 DaveRune
Love this idea! This could add a new dynamic to mining in higher tier areas, giving mining vessels a reason to have more shields etc. Maybe a new subsystem to be "invisible to mines" with various ranges. The mines could belong to a faction. If you're "allied" or "excellent" with them the mines wont approach. Or perhaps you have to buy a module from the faction to put on your mining vessels which prevents the mines from approaching that craft.
0 DerfK
Actually I was going to make a suggestion of adding "limpet" mines as a variation on the torpedo launcher. Using the same torpedo storage but facing "backwards" to leave mines attracted to pursuing ships. Force cannons could then push away mines, finally giving me a reason to use them on ships 😄
