salvager
It's has been a while since I've played (pre 2.0) but I never had any issues with performance before today. Now, I start a single player game and my frame rate is at like 45, sometimes dipping below that and my ping time is all over the place jumping from 3 to 10 erratically. Eventually my FPS does go up to 120. I tried this on a really nice M.2 SSD thinking maybe it was just lots of small textures taking a while to load however the tutorial still has garbage performance. My CPU usage is not going beyond 30% capacity and this isn't touching my GPU at all. This indicates to me either there's some major netcode optimization that needs to take place or textures are not being properly rendered using the GPU though this is just a theory. Either way I love this game but it's such a shame that it's in this state now making the experience terrible. If there's anything I can do to help test please let me know as I'm happy to help. Windows 10 Intel Core i7-6850k 1080ti 32GB 3333 DDR4 Samsung Extreme M.2 Note: As soon as I turned off V-Sync my frame rate jumped to 300 and the game performs fine now. I have G-Sync monitors so maybe Avorion isn't playing nice with them I'm not sure. Edited September 23, 2021 by salvager
Wi1em
I've got the same problem - during battles FPS is 30-45, in peaceful time it's 60-120 depending on amount of wrecks/loot. I even tried setting everything to low/off - doesn't help. Low/off and Max everything produce about the same results. RTX 2080 Ti, SSD, etc. G-Sync also. But turning off vsync (always had it turned off) doesn't help.
phezzan
I also have great performance, most of the time. It so happens that this game runs two processes, a server and a client. The server handles all the work of updating the galaxy, while the client renders the pretty. It seems to me the server and the client are often sharing processor cores. That's troublesome. So I set the affinity for the server to run on cores 3-6, and then everytime I start the client I have to forcibly set it to cores 1-2. That works much better, but STARTING A GAME IS REALLY ANNOYING. also - for some reason connecting to a running server on 127.0.0.1 takes forever - like 2 minutes, while single player starts instantly. Haven't figured that one out....
phezzan
I really wonder how this was resolved?
