Escort command in RTS mode

There's no Escort command in RTS mdoe (F9). I am forced to use the galaxy map to remote order my Frigates and Corvettes to accompany bigger ships. But this means I have no overhead visual on who they can accompany nearby.

 

Think this can be implemented in RTS mode so we can get a tactical view of weaker ships nearby that needs to accompany my beefy cruisers and carriers?

+1 for this! Only just occurred to me that this wasn't already possible a few days ago. Hopefully we'll see this added sometime (soon).  :D

There is? You just have to right click on the ship that you want to escort. It's the default command..

Are you sure? I remember trying that before and it only resulted in a move order; once I jumped to a different system, the escort ship stopped following, iirc.

I'm using this to order 2 support ships to follow me. I'm 100% sure that they follow me around and jump with me (if they have the jump range).

Yeah...apparently right clicking will trigger the escort order. However, the color code is green, which may mislead it being a "Move Order."

 

So here I suggest the color for the Escort Order be changed to distinguish it. Also, the encyclopedia should have a description how to issue Escort in RTS mode.
