Problem using hosted server ... ping starts at 55 then increases to 2200+

Odd problem .... I set up a couple servers with hosting companies.  I have one with PingPerfect and one with LowMS.  My friend has no problem connecting in and playing on either.  When I connect to either  server ping is around 55ms.  Everything is fine for maybe 5 minutes.  I generally notice the problem starting when I can no longer add blocks to ships.

If I wait a few more minutes eventually the low ping indicator comes on reporting 2200 plus ping.  I don't have Windows Firewall Running.  I turned off my Webroot Virus Protection and Firewall.  I have Win 10 with 32GiG and a 9900K and a 2080TI.    My tested internet speed is 125MBS down and 13MBS UP.

I have not had any issues with other online games.    I am not even sure where to look?  Any ideas?  Any help?  Thanks!!

The problem always manifests in the same fashion regardless of the testing I have done and documented below.

I log in and everything is fine.  F1 shows ping going from 25ms to 29ms.

Consistently at about 4 minutes functions requiring left clicks stop working.

I can no longer place a block.  I can no longer delete an email.  I can no longer found a ship. Etc….

The F1 Ping is no longer oscillating.  It appears frozen on whatever was last reported … like 27ms

After about 10 minutes the low ping icon presents showing 2500ms +

I log off

RTX 2080TI

Avorion Running off G: Drive M2

Media Box (No Problem)

I5 4670

Avorion Running on C harddrive

Both boxes latest Nvidia Drivers

Comcast Internet Provider

ARRIS Surfboard 586183 Modem

Dlink AC3200 Triband Router

Both boxes connect hard wire

I have tried two hosting services

Low MS

PingPerfect

My media box and my two friends have no problems on either hosted server.

My PC has exactly the same problem on both hosted servers.

-------------------------------------------------

Diagnostic Testing

I do not have any problems with other online games or other online processes

- Taken router out of the equation and connected directly to modem

- Totally cleaned box.  Ccleaner, Malware Bytes, Webroot Virus Scan.  No problems found

- Deleted programs I do not need any longer

- Shut down all tasks and services I do not need to run Avorion

- Took everything off Startup

- Tried setting up and running under a new Windows account

At this point since my friends and media box can run without problems I have to assume it's something on this PC and perhaps a wipe and reinstall is the only solution.  I guess it could be a hardware, chipset, bios issue but I have no other problems.

Logs have been provided.  Note that  "Authentication failed for user 76561197986421435. Reason: Authentication ticket was canceled" error only occurs when returning to Main Menu.

Im not sure if I understood you correctly:

You have a dedicated server with Intel Xeon 12Core, 64G ram and so on, as the server log shows.

Also you have 2 client PC - I9 9900k and I5 4650. The I5 4650 machine is working fine, but 9900k machine got problems.

Is that correct?

Please upload your client server logs, that are related to the server logs you attached to your answer. It looks like there is an issue with the connection:

Thanks again for responding .... Yes, it is a hosted server at LOW MS.  And I have two boxes as you have noted.  The low end media box with the I5 I just used for testing.  It connects and runs the game.  The 9900K box does not.

I watched on the web log ... the above only presents in the log after I return to menu to get out of the game.  Is that not normal?

The logs I attached were downloaded from the hosted server.  Is there a local client log?  If so, where is that?  I will get it and attach.

OK ran another test session ...again after about 4 minutes I cannot place blocks or use other dialog boxes needing mouse clicks.  Ping is frozen on last ping when using F1.  Interesting enough is that I can still see chats coming in from friends on the server as soon as they send them even after problem presents.

I did determine that the following authentication failed messages in the server log are not normal when a player quits the server ...

Yes, the log snipped you posted is the moment when you finally lose connection and client disconnects. But it does not show why... hoped to get this in client log, but it doesnt say anything helpful. I guess there is some networking issue on your client... Maybe a firewall or so? Blocked ports?

Yes I agree it must be something on this computer.  I have tried going naked connected directly to the modem whilst also turning off firewalls and virus protection.  It would not seem to be a port issue based on that.  However, the fact that I can see chat from other players in real time even after 'losing connection'. perhaps indicates a port issue.  .... Perhaps chat runs on a different port then other Steam stuff?  So given that everything is cool for 4 minutes it might indicate that something is running in the background that is hitting the game port and causing the lost connection.

So I could do packet sniffing and network monitoring but at this point I think it might be time for a box wipe and reload.  :)

I said I wouldn't take the time but I did some network monitoring anyway.  Prior to this screen shot everything appeared normally.  You can see a packet kick off to analytics.avorion.net.  Then you see a packet where destination is unreachable .  However, this is nothing I can find that indicates why.  There is nothing in the network traffic to indicate the problem.

Thanks for you comms on this .... I am having fun playing single player :) ... At this point we will see if a future wipe and reload of the box solves it.

Edit - Couldn't attach ... too big ... suffice to say there was a packet with unreachable destinition but nothing prior to indicate the problem.
