Order each ship to escort you and they will follow you when you jump. Keep in mind their jump ranges and hyperspace cool down though and sometimes they can bug and not follow you.

You can select all the drones at the same time by making a huge rectangle with your mouse, with the Strategic View (F9). Then you'll only have to right-click your ship and they will all escort you.

 

When you see huge asteroids made of much more voxels than usual, they have a good chance of being "claimable". They will be interactable if you approach them (usual prompt distance is 0.25 km). Once claimed by interacting with it, you will be able to either sell them to a faction (netting credits and reputation, the best you are with the faction the more credits and less rep you'll get), or found a (mine-type) station. Founding a mine will make you invest millions of credits (do not forget to build after founding), but you'll (slowly?) get your sum back.

 

Trade System Upgrades are fiddly: you'll probably need to jump to get it to work :-\.

 

Player-controlled AI ships are slow as their max speed is a composite of max velocity, acceleration and brake thrust. In other words, player-controlled AI ships will go slowly in order to be able to brake before crashing onto their destination. Increase break thrust and they'll happily crash into you go faster. Paint them red also ::).

Asteroid mines can produce things coal, oil and noble metals without any other required goods to be produced, and these are entry-level materials to several different industries; this is a bit too in-depth for me to explain, especially since I don't know each production chain individually. I have 3 production stations and even though I'm not near them and they are just small, I seem to be getting cash from them now and then, though I can't confirm that yet. (There's no notification :s )

 

But bases you own, be it on asteroids or otherwise, can have massive cargo bays (if you build them), so you can stockpile any random goods you like at any station.

 

Having any station is also useful for hiring whatever random variety of crewmen it has; the prices will be slightly better than elsewhere, but of course the station's investment is already kind of high.

 

Now, why would you care about goods at all? Well, personally, a good reason for me is that with enough production chains I'll be able to make certain components that are required for building turrets at turret factories (and you can also own these ;D )

So I've been playing and I am a man of efficiency I don't want to mine all these nodes. So I've made little drones. Given them the right materials and sent them off mining. Good deal, it worked and I made profit from it. Now I've sucked this sector dry. How do I move them all of them, to another sector without having to manually do it?  Second question I've seen a post about building on an asteroid if this is a thing what's the point of it?  Third question, how do I get this trade system upgrade to work. It says it shows the prices of the sector, I do not see that.  Fourth question, my mining army is slow why are they so slow? Are they afraid to disappoint me by slamming into an asteroid?  ~ Thank you for your time.

- Order them to Escort you, wait until they gather around you, or chain-order them so that they follow one-another. Make sure all of their jump drives has necessary reach and they're idle, then jump. They might not jump if they're too far away from your ship.

- Large asteroids can be claimed and used to establish a Mine. Mines automatically produce the majority of raw materials used on other factories as long as the sector is still running, provided it has crew, power, assembly blocks and cargo to store the output. Generally the price of establishing depends on the price of a produced commodity.

- Functionality of Trade Modules expand depending on rarity. Basic modules only show the prices across the sector. Intermediates show trading routes across several sectors visited last. Top modules allow sorting sector info tabs. Take note, that dragging a Trade Module into upgrade slot will not activate it - you need to right-click the module to install it as immediately active. You can remove a module the same way to make a free slot. Same is true for Object Detectors.

- AI controlled ships max speed depends on the breaking time. If a ship cannot break a speed in ~5 seconds, then it will not go faster than that.

How does one make a station?!  The only time I’ve ever seen the option is after claiming an asteroid.  There is no option to found a turret factory, for example.

In order to do it, you'd need to build a ship on any friendly Shipyard with the "Station Founder" flag enabled. Whether you'd choose to make a single block ship or one of a procedurally generated design is irrelevant. Doing that will create a ship, that you can lead to the desired location and then interact with it to "Found Station". When used, a similar dialog to mine selection will appear, that will allow you to choose the type of a station to build, including non-factory ones like Shipyards and Turret Factories.

 

Note: many of these stations are founded with the automatic attachments added to the boundary blocks of the founder ship, like the shipyard's frames or solar arrays of Solar Power Plants. If you want to keep those, pre-build your founder ship to complement those beforehand - most attachemnt will be placed on either sides of the ship, and shipyard frames will be placed on front and back of the founder ship. Otherwise you can remove these, as they're not actually necessary for station's function.

On mines there's only a couple of dock blocks that appear. You may design an asteroid-like station in Creative Mode to get it working faster in Survival, though the asteroid part is optional and you can apply any normal station design to a mine :).
