Commands In RTS Mode And Better Menu Option On Stations

Knightoout

Suggestion

He Guys

I have been playing avorion for more than 300 hours now and i really think it will improve the game play by 500% if we would have option like salvage/mine/defend in RTS mode like icon or something

Also On Station it will be Nice to Have Icon representing Every Feature Like Trade/Hire crew Not Just a full like with Text . By Doing so we would have a more smooth Experience while trading or managing your Fleet

.For Now those are my 2 main ideas

A small one that bugs me. You can command allied, captained ships in RTS mode, but you can't control your own ship, even if it has a captain. The command "works" and it shows a line that it's moving, but it doesn't.

Another feature I'd like to see is WASD or arrow key controls to move the strategy view, instead of having to mouse to the edge of the screen to move.

And of course as the OP mentioned, standard RTS commands: move, attack/mine/salvage selected target, patrol, escort target, etc.

I'd love to play this as a space strategy game instead of your normal first/third person sim, but it lacks the infrastructure to do that.

wont argue with the rest of it but the arrow keys do move the view for me in rts...  the rest wouldn't be bad to see added.

The strategy mode is in need of a general overhaul. It seems it tries to be an adjustment of the default flight mode, but since it is switched by a dedicated button now and not zooming out of specific bounds, there's no reason why it has to. If the mode can be reworked to more conventional RTS control standards, it will do wonders for the fleet management and combat versus a conventional "just make your ship bigger" approach.

The problem of PvP participants just being able to boost or warp away at any desired moment will remain of course, but at least for PvE it would make sense to bother with having multiple ships over a single one, as they would be more efficient and powerful) if you could reliably control their actions.

I can only dream about seeing the ability to make 3D formation groups and repair ships indirectly via other ships or stations, but just making a strategy mode is a first step towards the right direction.

Formation declaring and maintaining would definitely help since telling more than one ship at a time to go somewhere cause the ships to go exactly to the pointed destination, therefore certainly crashing and getting stuck on each other ::).

Good complaint !

When giving orders to one's own ship, the game could put some kind of lock so that the ship is maneuvered until the player hits the forward or backward buttons out of the strategic view, giving the player the liberty to focus on firing at enemies in the non-strategic view (and eventually strafing to dodge cannon shots and such).

The AI would also fire with combat orders, allowing the AI to fire at a designated (or self-designated, when given the Attack Enemies order) enemy while the player could target and fire at another. Now that'd be worthy of "7500 credits per hour and not thrown out of the airlock" :D !

Also, the F9 view needs either ecliptic plane lock, to allow a player to fix an ecliptic plane on a sector's strategic view, or ecliptic plane rotation (allowing rotation of the plane without the hassle of going out of the view to rotate the view then going back in).

A custom RMB-menu delay slider would also not hurt: sometimes clicking for two seconds, especially on moving ships, to give an order is too much.

DivineEvil, you mean making a formation of ships and being able to control those ships as 1? Would be amazing  :D

I mean opening the fleet player's menu and being able to create groups (folders) for ships and stations to drag-and-drop for easier management. Then you'd be able to select any ship of the group, and it will select the whole group. You would be able to define the formation, in which ships would align relative to the command plane, and combat behavior pattern, i.e. keeping the distance, broadside/upside/downside orbiting, status for retreat, etc.

Allowing manual control over these might be easier, than trying to code the AI to effectively adapt to player's design and weapon placement decisions.
