Few bugs I found

Ok, so played a couple of hours and I found this:

 

- In name ship box, text cursor cannot be moved along text, always in the end (maybe was intended, then is a suggestion, make it movable so one don't have to erase all because he missed a letter in the beginning  ;D )

 

- In Keyboard steering, left shift was not resetting the camera.

 

- Weapon selection (1, 2, 3, etc...) was not working, always all weapons selected.

 

- in build mode, there was a circumstance where while deleting a block, it would remain there, or at least, the image of it, but no more selectable, or counting to statistics, as if it was not there. but you could see it anyway.

 

- tried to use the report bug, but it didn't work, I think it made my Firefox crash (not sure).

 

- mining lasers do absolutely no dmg to ship wreeks. like 1. and no metals were being harvested, no matter if iron or titannium, nor turret efficiency.

 

Also, I found a smuggler hideout (is that the name?) but I could not sell my "robed cargo", every time I placed the number of units I wanted to sell, it turned to 0. Bt maybe I just don't know the mechanics here.

 

Small question too: what is a travellers stash and a hidden stash? :p

one more found, and this is exploitable:

 

- get some stolen cargo, and then dump it. when you capture it again, its "clean" cargo now.

 

Also, on this matter, we could have the option of picking up cargo or not, because, once I got some cargo in the middle of a fight, and next to me were some frigates, who right away came with the "you got stolen cargo" chat. lost all my credits there, without intending to get the cargo in the first place :| lol

 

Don't we need a salvage laser to get items from wrecks? Didn't think the mining laser could do it?

Yeah the way you pickup stuff in the game is a bit weird, I think a better alternative would be if cargo drops in small stacks which can be selected and pulled in by the player using a tractor beam. Also there should be just a button we can press that will pick up all of the cargo in the tractor beam range. But that's just my opinion  :P

Thanks gn_leugim for posting all this. A few comments from my side:

 

Weapon selection does work, but you have to assign groups in the ship menu (P). Click on the turret, then press a number key. You can then toggle the turrets on and off with the number keys.

 

Mining lasers doing no damage to metal hulls is intended at the moment, to prevent griefing with drones. Drones are hard to kill since they're so small, and while testing we realized that this might be an issue. A special mining laser for metal hull is already in the making :)

 

The stashes are basically chests with goodies. Fly near them to open them - you'll find some cool things inside.

 

I agree that there should be options for picking up cargo - especially stolen cargo. I'll have a look at all this.

ahhh ok, now I get it. and yes, is working  ;)

 

yet on that matter, when I am in Building mode, when I equip a weapon it says on the side "removed" with the weapon icon displaying. is that right? also happens when you equip systems.

 

and now regarding systems, how does the Object detector works? because I have a golden one, with 9.21 of highlight range, and I fly nose dive to huge asteroid (is that a rare valuable item?) and nothing happens :\

It says removed because it removes the item from your inventory, since it's built onto/into your ship.

 

The object detector displays an info message when you enter a sector, when it detects valuable objects, and highlights them with a white indicator, if they're in range.

 

Claimable asteroids (the really big ones that don't have resources like Iron, Titanium etc but where you can build a station on) are considered valuable objects, yes.

I also wondered that regarding the huge rocks I found ;)

 

Ok, once again, i'm starting to be a pain now :p this time with a video, that demonstrates better I think:

 

 

2 things: asteroid blocks that take too long to visually disappear, and why by killing pirates I am losing relations with my home sector?

 

edit: also, as you can see, I had to use windowed mode to capture that video, donno why but borderless didn't cut it off :\

Thanks, both of these are on the radar. I'm actually working on the relations issue right now. Hopefully the relations problems will be fixed by tonight. Not sure about the block visuals, those are way more complicated.

If it really annoys you, you can switch off "ambient occlusion" in the graphics settings. Then it will update the meshes immediately.

gn_leugim: Just to check, is the faction from your start sector very empathic? If yes, then this might be the reason why they don't like it when you destroy other ships - regardless of pirates or not. You can check this in you diplomacy tab.

Sorry for the triple post, but was afraid you wound't notice if I have edited it instead  :-[

 

So, first turret factory mistake:

In the drop list menu you can chose from exotic, but it displays a exceptional item.

 

secondly, on the systems:

So, what happens is as follows. I have no system installed (for cargo) and then install the cargo system you can see in the pic. after that I check on the data and no change. only when I select a station and interact with it (F) i have the info updated. but, even then, if I try to take a mission that requires cargo space, and my base cargo space does not fullfill the requirements, and I insert this to meet it, it says I don't have enough anyway. happens with both absolute or percentage upgrades.

 

EDIT: just tried with a golden one, and not even when I interact with a station it updates the info on cargo (but the energy goes up, on the bar bellow). I had to enter and exit the galaxy for it to work.

 

Yet on cargo/trade systems:

I have this bug on this ship, which has 3 icons for looking for info in the system. while only one does that (the others open empty lists). they appear after some strange systems that were not being removed from the ship, but at the same time they were adding items to the system list bellow. can't tell more though, can't reproduce the thing :\

 

and then, when you open the menu:

that is in a 1920x1080 screen resolution, and all is clogged up and sometimes hard to read anything.

 

Finally, if you are in mouse steer, and pressing a key for ship movement (like W to accelerate) and then a selection menu open up (such a station buy/sell, a interaction from a friendly ship with options etc), the last movement order is locked, so, if you were pressing W to accelerate, it will keep doing so, even if you release the key. Sometimes this can be handy, but others disastrous, as I have experience in near head on collision because I couldn't control my ship.

I just investigated, and it turns out they're all (only) UI-related, especially the cargo upgrade one. If you check in the building mode or the cargo bay, after installing the system, you'll see that your cargo bay size will have changed. It's only in the ship overview where it's not yet updated.

Now, weird one just happened to me and it saddens me, as it costed me a good ship with really good system upgrades/weapons  :( :(

 

Let me try to reproduce it:

 

I had two ships, a all-purpose ship and a cargo ship. was in a sector with portals to other. Said my all-purpose, who had a captain, to escort me (while at the cargo ship). moved though a portal, waited a bit, all ok, both ships cross. Other ship still is following me when I move my ship and then I go to other portal. once I get to the other side, I miss press the T key and leave my ship unintentionally (wanted to press R to select the closest enemy). I select my cargo ship and press T. I may have press T more than once I think.

 

And then it happened. There is a lot of pop up windows, tilling one over the other, very fast, but closing almost as fast as they open, so I could not read nothing at all, only see the "trail" of them opening and closing. The game minimizes in the process and I am at my desktop. But the game didn't crash, so I open it up again and try to enter the cargo ship. nothing happens. So I decide to exit and enter the galaxy again. when I do that, I return in my drone in the home sector of the faction I am ally to and was at that moment. and no sign of both ships on radar.

 

I return to that sector and upon arriving to it the cargo ship is there, and I go to it and T'ed it and entered it. Then I went back to the sector were my all-purpose ship supposedly was, and nothing. I've entered all 3 sectors involved by portal and by hiperdrive and nothing, the ship disappeared into thin air :(

 

nevertheless, I give you the best description of the error, I hope you can figure out what is wrong. if you need anything else, please, ask.

here I come with another list:

 

- In sector, while using the trading system, that allows you to see prices, stations etc etc, the Habitat station is not showing up on the list.

 

- Sometimes, during the Xzotan ship event, it says " a allien Ship has appeared" or something like that, but, despite the sentence refers to a single ship, multiple ships appear.

 

- When dumping cargo, the cargo is dumped, but, the line on the ship menu remains, unless you exit and enter ship menu. it shows 0 cargo.

 

- Whenever you are docked to a station that produces goods, if you are typing how much of a given good you want to buy/sell, and a cycle of production has ended, the number you inserted in the buy/sell resets to 0.

 

- not necessary a bug, but something not so right. if you are flying a cargo ship and you crash into something, even though you lost a small block, not related to cargo block (thruster for example) you lose a lot of cargo (like a 1/5th). This could see some revision I thing, as it is not very realistic. cargo should be only lost when the cargo blocks are destroyed and should be proportional to its size.

 

- exiting and entering the galaxy, made the mission I was doing expire, although I did it within the time requirements.

 

- also not really a bug, but would be possible to see stations (AI sector owned) get repaired over time. I have a few who lost all dock blocks and cant trade with them anymore.

Thanks! Most of these have been fixed over the weekend, but I'll have a look at the others.

What mission?

That sounds like a good idea.

Please be more detailed and provide steps to reproduce the bugs. I don't have enough time trying to reproduce them all. Please take the time to do this, otherwise half of the reports you made can't be fixed.
