Crazey Wayne
If a mod is on a server do all players on the server need to have it on there client? What I mean is, can a person with a basic client connect to a moded server and play? I know they might not get the benefit of the mod.
Dirtyredz
It depends on the mod, some modes require the client to have the mod (or atleast part of it). The client will fail to connect or lockup in situations where the server mod is looking for the client mod.
Splutty
The basic rule of thumb is that mods that do UI changes need to also be on the client side. Most others only run on the server and don't require a client component to be installed.
Crazey Wayne
I was asking because of some mods I liked as in; [Mod] Captined ship salvage command [Mod][beta] MineCorp [Mod] Casino "Gambling [MOD] Regenerative Asteroid Fields [Mod] Highlight other players in sector [Mod] Compass-like Gate Pixel Icons I one did not see if they said everyone had to have it or two did not understand the instructions. That's because most mod coders make no such distinction, and just have you install it on both the client and server. For Single Player games, that's exactly what it does as well, with the difference that the server install and the client install actually *is* the exact same install. As I said, everything that makes changes to the UI needs a client component. And most mods don't bother making two different files for client and server.
