question about ship commands

is there any reason why my ship wont go threw gates anymore? it is a small mining ship only 3 upgrade slots. befor the patch i was able to go to rts mode highlight the ship and right click it to the gate. now it just stops in front of it and wont move close enough to travel threw it. for the time being i have to set my ship to idle then position my self so the the gate is between me and my mining ship then command it to follow me and it will only sometimes travel in a straight line and go threw the gate. the other 1/2 a times it goes around the gate to get to me. is this just my pc doing this or other people having this issue as well?

It's not just you...

I have two escort ships now. One follows me just fine, the second simply refuses to go through gates. It's @#$% annoying to the point I'm going to destroy the second ship just so I don't have to mess with it.

I recall a post I read awhile back about having the ship really close, but I can't find it now.

Just a PITA to be honest. Hoping this and captained ships freezing anytime a piece of anything gets too close or they can't reach it gets fixed soon.

Cheers..!

It's an oddity of the escort order/AI, but currently, if you want to get multiple ships to jump through a gate, you need to "daisy chain" the escort order.  For example, if you have four ships, you can't just jump into Ship 1 and tell your other three to escort you.  What you have to do is:

1. Jump into Ship 3.  Target Ship 4 and order it to escort you.

2. Jump into Ship 2.  Target Ship 3 and order it to escort you.

3. Jump into Ship 1.  Target Ship 2 and order it to escort you.

4. Jump through the gate.

Daisy chaining your escort orders in this fashion will result in your fleet popping through the gate after you one after the other in sequence.

It's still PITA, but it's a start.

Many thanks for one half of one less hassle.

Cheers..!
