With this mod, you will have the ability to scan sectors, collect the data and be able to sell that data. There are two ways to get this ability: #1: found a new ship. once you do you will see a radar dish icon at the top right. Click this button and choose Start Sector Scan. The longer you sit and let it scan the better the rarity of data chip you will receive. When ready click Stop Sector Scan. You will get a "Sector Data Chip". these will be in the same place as your system upgrades. You can sell these anywhere you can sell system upgrades. #2: if you already have a ship and do not want to found a new one to get this ability simply open chat and type: /run Entity():addScript("lib/scansector.lua") Enjoy exploring and reap the rewards! Notes(spoiler for time variables): 20 seconds or so: common 60 seconds or so: uncommon 120 seconds or so: rare 240 seconds or so:exceptional 480 seconds or so:exotic anything longer than 480 seconds or so:legendary hit ' key to see timer ;) sectorscan.zip Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
WARGAMES Posted March 5, 2017 Share Posted March 5, 2017 this mod idea, I like this for the scanning mechanism. it could be much better than the default "detection" module. because it gives a sense of immersion with scanning for things as a ship should with sensors. The module should have a couple of variants like: Asteroid Analyser [a], Wreckage Scanner, Stash Sniffer[c] All the variants should be harder find. A bit of of information on how the modules could work: A --> Scan starts scanning all the asteroids for ore and lists how many oasteroids with a certain ore are found. This takes a couple of minutes since every asteroid has to be scanned 1 by 1 unless you have multiple modules of the same time. example: The scanner has found 23 asteroids with Naonite and 4 asteroids with Trinium. The scanner has also picked up 1 claimable asteroid (witch will be highlighted). B --> Scanner starts scanning all the wreckages for only 1 type and counts the amount of blocks in the wreckage. If the wreckage has more then 25 blocks it will list them example: Total salvagable wrecks found 19 C --> Scanner Pinpoints the stash if it is in the sector and highlights them and gives the marker. This module would be the most rare The energy costs needed for scaning should decrease with A to C The the possibility to found these modules should decrease starting from A to C (C is most uncommen to find) Scanning per asteroid shoul be 1 second.
