[r7633] Feature request: add more hotkeys

Suggestion

While playing midgame content, i feel there are not enough hotkeys for some interactions like:

 

- drone commanding

- turret group organisation

- inventory useability (e.g drag and drop is nice, but not suitable for moving a ton of items)

Moving Items (IE to research) is instant for individual items via Right-click  --- once I found that ... much happy.

 

I would like to see Hotkeys for controlling the turrets. 

 

Hit the number to make the group hot

 

'F'ocus My target

'G'uns free (fire at will)

 

Hit the number again to release the group with their orders.

 

Guns on 1, salvagers on 2

 

I currently have "2" set to "G" and "1" set to "F"

 

Fight starts... One of the ships is a nasty one and I am more interested in seeing him dead faster. I hit "2" and "F" now my salvagers are hitting the target that I just broke shields on, It dies, some little pests are still buzzing around I Hit "1" (since "2" is still active) and hit "G" and both guns and salvagers go autonomous, I hit "1+2" to release them with their orders while I look around at the field of battle for loot.

 

Shortly the last enemy dies, I hit "1" and "F" to use the guns to assist the salvagers in destroying wreckage.

I would like to see hotkeys to command my ships and fighters. And being able to assign squadrons to groups. For example I hit '3' and all my salvage fighter squadrons are selected. Than I could hit 'F1' to attack target, 'F2' to protect target and 'F3' to return to ship.

Other ships in the fleet could be assigned groups in the Fleet tab. But their groups would be selected with the F keys. For example I assign two of my mining ships to 'F1'. When I enter a sector I hit 'F1' to select them and then 'F4' to send them mine. When I need to leave the sector I select them again and hit 'F3' to escort me (I don't remember the current order of commands in the game). This system works in Mount and Blade and it is great for quickly giving many orders.

I love these ideas. It all sounds very streamlined.

 

And then maybe something like SHIFT+1 to activate/inactivate the turrets completely like what 1 and 2 etc. are bound to now? Or possibly hit 1 once: activate turret group 1, hit 1 again: select turret group 1. Use the keys "F" and "G" like you described: hitting one of the keys changes the turret group's behaviour. Hit 1 again: inactivate turret group 1.
