I have the same bug, I'll try to post some more information, hope it helps:

 

Just like OP says, when I try to create a new world it says ''Error starting single player mode''

 

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

CPU: i5 2500k

RAM: 8GB DDR3

GPU:R9 270X 4GB

Okay after inspecting your log file I think I know what's causing this.

 

Do you have avast installed? If yes, you have to make an exception for the Avorion installation directory. It thinks the server executable is a virus and deletes it (because it listens for incoming connections).

 

Add an exception for the installation directory in your virus scanner, reinstall the game and it should work. If it doesn't please tell me and we'll find a solution. After your installation in the bin/ folder there should be 2 executables: Avorion.exe and AvorionServer.exe. If the latter is missing, it's your virus scanner.
