Warrax
Function !! Here's Argento, Audax and Algaard under construction. Its standard for me now to check my elements before I put on the cladding (armour). Yes, yes, I add the colours myself. But for anyone starting out, you may also find this sort of thing helpful in your functional designs Argento, naked. 1 screen Audax , naked. 1 screen Algaard , naked. 3 screens Cheers

Warrax
I am trying to figure out this design ... Its the 45degree angles that have me a little baffled Any advice would be much appreciated, and I may give it a whirl - Cheers !! ::)
Warrax
In a recent post, i outlined the ships classification system that i will adopt and apply to my ship designs. The system is linked to the number of upgrades the ship has. One idea in this system, is that ships with less than 4 slot upgrades are referred to collectively as scouts. My Classification System is thus: My FORMER Classification System is thus: [*]Scout I (or Skow) [*]Scout II (or Shuttle) [*]Scout III (or Voyageur) [*]Fighter [*]Heavy Fighter [*]Corvette [*]Frigate [*]Destroyer [*]Cruiser [*]Heavy Cruiser (or Assault Cruiser) [*]Battle Cruiser [*]Battleship [*]Dreadnought [*]Titan [*]Mobile Fortress http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,1439.msg17101.html#msg17101
Blondersheel
45 degree angles of very thin pieces (like wings in this case) are just incredibly hard to build...my advice: build them on 10x scale and then scale them down. They are going to have a HIGH block count though, no way around it. The further from 45 degrees you get, the fewer blocks you have to use for a given desired thin-ness and the easier it will be. Good luck!
Warrax
Ah ... k, thanks Blonder ... Here is my first attempt - yes, I realize it looks like space junk, but a first attempt, its not so bad, lol Hmm, btw to see my pics, I think you need to be logged in. Eventually I will start posting pics online, so its easier to see, and in better quality. Cheers
Pob
You'll have issue with the down sloping wings, and the curved parts. If you square out the curves and flatten out the wings then it's not so bad, but you will lose the feel those downward sloping wings give. Nice work on the Aegoran :)
Warrax
Thank you Pob. Ok, and finally, I have posted my pics of the Aegoran online. So you can see a little better. Aegoran These were my first screens ever. Once I re-post the Aegoran in a more flattering light, I will drop the link -here-
Warrax
And yes, I know this is an ugly dastard of a ship, but this was strictly for proof of concept. Took a cuppla tries to figure out the raising arms, so now I will try this on a real fighting design. Thanks for the advise by the way. Appreciated !! Enjoy, the very rough "Intrepid" Like I said, the Intrepid is rough ... but little did I know, that this turned out to be a learning experience (regarding angles and arcs). ... Here again is the technique with clean angles put to another use. Used in the construction of this major part for the Jackal. Cheers

Warrax
Why did you copy my statue without asking huh? Hi Zajc I just got back from holidays and am resetting my posts ... And I was about to give credit to your fantastic works. As Zajc pointed out, the original statue is from his Emperor class ship http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,1527.0.html I made a few changes in his design to fit the lit situ for my shaded spot on some of my ships Cheers
Zajc
In your first reply under this post it is still stated that te statue is your work. Change it.

Warrax
For an early game Starter Ship, a Scout or a fast Late Game Miner Buddy ... Part of my plan, was to "just" reach the 4th Slot. ;) Argento I tried to keep the titanium down, and the iron up. The intent here was for a relatively efficient starter. The cash cost is more than I was hoping for, but the esthetics are what cost the most i think. As well, it is built for speed, as you will see. (by the way ... how do I do the SPOILER thing? Do most of you appreciate the spoiler option??) (Yay, someone shared, see lower down in thread). Argento, stats (no items) Not sure yet how to post the xml, though I am willing to ... Warrax
This was my first ever ship, of any intentional design. At the time, I was really enjoying the game, was a total newb, but I wanted something big (yeah, i know - its small, but at the time it "seemed" big, lol :-[). Turns out, this design has a few esthetic flaws, is too expensive to be called a starter ship - and its kinda crappy cuz it has no shield. But, if i was ever to restart, this ship is a nice stepping stone to something larger, and more expensive. And yeah, that includes a dang shield. But at less than 235,000 Units, its not a bad price, and only 35000 Titanium. (All stats are listed in last photo - and you can see the prices were also captured in the screenshot) Arrius (renamed from Exeter) Stats for Arrius- you can see the costs in the screen too Cheers ;)
Warrax
Ok, the Jackal ... the first attempt on the side pods was a -fail-, :'( lol. Hit the drawing board again, but ran outa time. In the meantime, here is the side pods (Component Part Only). I still gotta rig up the mount, and will try to get to it tomorrow after work, and post it with the full, completed ship. (Again, the original concept drawing of the Jackal is from Ignus Dei). Cheers Jackal - under construction - component parts for now (Pods) 33 x 12, and thin. Just 0.5 block width. concave view (inner) convex view (outer) End - yup, going for "sick" thin Please let me know if you have wing pods like this already ... maybe post your link to your page. Cheers :)
Ohm is Futile
The reason a lot of people put spoilers is because, without them, it makes finding something specific a lot more annoying because pictures make the posts much, much longer. You put them in like this:
stuff
You can add info by doing this:
stuff
To post XMLs, you need to host them somewhere. Easiest option is probably dropbox. You can simply put them there, right click either the file or the folder and copy the link. Then insert it like this: link text
Warrax
Awesome - thanx Ohm !! I will do some clean-up tomorrow when i finish the jackal. Nightie-night 8)
Warrax
The wing pods for the Jackal are done ... was a bit of work - but in the end, the effort was worthwhile. Jackal Wing Pods - mount-ready (for copy & paste & mirroring) And ... mounted (close up from the Jackal) All XMLs are linked here in this post http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2539.msg13053.html#msg13053 Cheers :)
Warrax
Among my ships, the deficiency I had was for a transport. The Jackal was built for speed and for hauling. This build (from 10.2 version) has over 4900 cargo ... but I may need to rethink that with the 0.11 Version update. Stats are not posted today, sorry, as the re-work may take me a day or two. In the meantime ... The Jackal Cheers :)
