Hey there guys!

First off, I want you to know that I'm working hard on the next update.

To ease the wait, I will be announcing some of the new features in the upcoming version 0.6:

Trading

As of version 0.6, there will be almost a hundred trading goods introduced to the universe of Avorion. Trading goods can be bought at trading posts and factories, and can be sold to consumers, other factories requiring goods or trading posts.

In order to buy and transport trading goods, players will have to extend their ships with a new cargo bay block.

Trading goods can be produced by factories, following a huge tech tree.

Additionally, there will be a lot of new stations introduced:

Trading Posts

... will be rather common, and will offer a big variety of random goods to buy or sell. Prices at trading posts will not be the best, but you will have good chance that you will get your stuff sold there.

Factories

... can be found at specific sectors. They will usually buy and sell only a small range of goods, but prices are usually better at factories. Although you should pay attention, some factories will charge you a lot for their goods. On the other hand, those factories will usually pay very good prices for the goods they require.

Factories always produce a certain good. As soon as they have all the goods they require, they will start manufacturing.

Consumers

... are stations that will only buy and use up goods. You will find them in various sectors.

So, if you want to make money trading, get ready!

Oh, and you should of course take into account that stations that have an empty stock of a certain good will be willing to pay good prices for those.

Ship Systems

With the update I will introduce ship systems. Ship systems are used to categorize ships better and so that players can see what kinds of ships they're dealing with.

Upcoming ship systems are split into 4 categories:

  • Military Systems
  • Trading Systems
  • Explorer Systems
  • Mining Systems

Depending on the systems, ships will have different features. For example, military ship systems will be able to support a lot of armed turrets, while mining ship systems will support a lot of mining turrets.

In order to build a bigger ship, you will have to upgrade your ship's systems, as the old ones only work for ships up to a certain size.

There are a lot of other features, such as ships with non-military systems will be more likely to be trusted, while military systems generally have a rather intimidating effect.

New ships will start with adequate ship systems already installed. Already existing ships will have the basic systems installed and have to be upgraded at a shipyard.

Launcher

The next update will include an Avorion launcher, which will from now on download new updates automatically.

This launcher will also be used for video settings from now on, fixing some annoying bugs that occurred when changing video settings ingame.

Hidden Sectors

This point addresses an important topic. Unvisited, detected sectors on the map (those that are marked green) will now always be safe and civilised. You will not encounter pirates in those sectors, and can jump into them without having to worry about your ship getting destroyed.

But what would this universe be without pirates? You will still be able to encounter pirates, but they will hide in undetectable sectors between the green dots on the map, as well as some other treasures like rich, unknown asteroid fields, wreckage fields, and some others!

Alright, those are the biggest new features that will be coming to you very soon! Stay tuned!

Take care,

Koonschi
