  1. Hello All, I started playing Avorion recently (coming from Eve Online) and the game caught me by surprise. Liked it a lot that i am continuously playing for hours and the single player server is running 24x7. I felt some of the features could really make this game more interesting and challenging. One of those are the "Armor Tanking". (I did not like the concept of adding 5 to 6 of "energy shield booster" in the end game to play). I have been going through the scripts/documentation and have few points on how this can be achieved. Armor Plating Mod I am a big fan of armor tanking than the shield tanking. but unfortunately, its not balanced yet right now. Advantages Its a sub-system Provides defense against "Physical", "Anti-matter", "plasma", "energy", "electric" multiple sub-system can be used. but with heavy penalty. defense rating varies depending on the rarity, starting from 4% to 35% (for the maximum) slightly increases the durability. Penalty usage of single armor plating Armor plating increases the overall mass of the ship. Affected stats - Thrusters, velocity, acceleration. Usage of multiple armor plating Doubles the affected stats.- thrusters, velocity, acceleration. gives diminishing defense ratings. How it is implemented. A series of new sub systems are introduced which can be installed by the player. Once this is installed, it affects the ships stats. I could not find any exposed interface for armor. But the script only exposes the "Durability" factor. Durability cannot be used for this defense rating. Though it will be slightly improved when this sub-system is installed. Hence i am listening to the onHullHit event and modifying the incoming damage to the ship, based on the damage type and the damage amount. (This script will be added to the sector). Please do let me know if there are other ways to achieve this. Kindly do feedback on the same.
  2. It's a sandbox game, if people wish to cheat the achievement so be it. Steam cards? There are only 7 and it's not important at all.
  3. For 2.2 : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JS443CulS6h6J2WNlcBRyjHPnAEqpcVT/view?usp=sharing Replace files in steam\steamapps\common\Avorion\data\scripts---(backup original file before replacing) For 2.0 (latest version September 23) : Top tier captain could be hired from stations or got by 'A lost friend' mission Xsotan key 2 now provides various upgrades for saving slots. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FFzacenQwLSAm2kJ7qbhxyCMVFw1MaE-/view?usp=sharing Replace files in steam\steamapps\common\Avorion\data\scripts The file above contains modified item & building, plus tier 3 captain & uncapped reputation gain via trade. 8055 would only spawn within radius 1~25 so it's easier to find. For 1.0 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JayL47YVbLrck-QLnOgnJjHNEfg2kDZz/view?usp=sharing DPS / efficiency / item spawn improvement for easier game progress. Turret / factory / fighter cost are significantly reduced, so it's easier to build a huge fleet with giant battle-carriers or station complex. steam\steamapps\common\Avorion\data\scripts\lib It's recommended to backup original files before using this one. notice: Playing with Steam off-line mode may lead to negative mine production. Enemy fire power and range are also increased, so shield reinforcer is necessary for surviving railgun shots/tesla.
  4. Still works on Avorion 1.3.8 and on the 2.0 Beta Branch update! For older versions of Avorion (< 1.0), check the archived first post. ---- [ ! ] Scroll to the bottom of the post for my own full music.lua file to copy-paste into yours in case you need a complete example. [ ! ] To my knowledge, music modding is an entirely client-side process. I.e. the client needs to install the music files themselves, and they cannot be installed through Steam Workshop. I would love to hear if you figured out how to do this, though! Server owners, please read step 10 in the Background / Ambient Tracks section to allow clients to use their music mods on your server. ---- Hey gang, Avorion's Music Coordinator builds a playlist of tracks based on "moods", and chooses tracks that are appropriate for that Sector based on how many Stations are left alive there, how many Wreckages are there, whether the Sector is neutral, hostile, or friendly to you, whether it's completely empty, etc. etc. Basically, you get played tracks that feel "appropriate" for that environment. Introduction What does this mean for all of you out there who had a vast library of music added into the game? Well, I am one of them (3 GB of music to be precise), so let me walk you through the steps of making your music show up in game again. In my case, it's time to categorise 3 GB worth of music into "moods"... ^^" [NOTE:] For all directories, move into your Avorion Steam installation directory first: YourSteamFolder/(...)/Avorion/, typically something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Avorion\. All music files need to be in .OGG format, or Avorion will not play them. I've installed my own music files directly into my Avorion installation folder, i.e. in the Steam Directory (see above), not in any other place like AppData nor a /steamworkshop/ folder. I've always done it that way and never tested the others; you might be able to pull it off by installing it there. Let me know if it works! Main Menu Background / Ambient Tracks Combat Tracks Boss Tracks ---------------- Have fun modding your game, and listening to some cool tunes! ~Shrooblord P.S. Note that the file paths described above can be any subdirectory of the Steam Avorion installation path you want! This means that if you package a mod with, for example, a cool new Boss to fight, you can give it custom music that sits in its own folder separate from the data/music folder, so that you don't even have to tell your users to drag the file into the appropriate folder; just "plug 'n play" and there you go! This system means adapting, a little, but it is more flexible than the old one, and you as a modder (or user) have more control. Excellent~! P.P.S. Here's my own music.lua in its entirety, in case you want a more complete example; also included as a downloadable attachment: music.lua
