  1. I do agree, the universe doesn't scale very well, things like alien attacks, pirate raids and ambushes are genuinely threatening at first, but then just a mild annoyance end-game. That being said, the bosses suffer from this too. It might be just that I made an overkill of a ship before pursuing the quests, but they all seemed too weak when I fought them. Exception being the AI, which was a refresher at first, but became a bit monotonous after a while. It'd be great if the bosses scaled appropriately to the size of your ship when they spawned, a vague example would be "scale= (total volume of player's fleet * custom difficulty multiplier)/(Base boss volume)" Some of the mentioned issues can already be resolved with existing mods, but that also depends on what stance you have with mods, and what way the modder thinks the game should change.
  2. These are very interesting designs! The "standard cockpit size for sense of scale" is quite brilliant, my future ships will definitely steal have some inspiration of this idea.
  3. Ooh, I like this thread. I'll do a piggyback if you all don't mind. So, I've got a simple production chain setup: Water collector, Solar power plant, Potato farm, Carbon extractor (from the potatoes), Steel Factory, Ore and Coal mine. In theory, this should be a self-sufficient production chain that outputs steel at the end, plus excess items here and there. In practice, however, I've suddenly noticed that the throughput is really bad, since I used primarily cargo fighters to transport the goods from/to every station. Each cargo fighter (irregardles of size) seems to only be able to hold one item, and each station can only send out 20 cargo fighters at a time. This means that something like the potato farm which needs more than 100 items supplied every 5 seconds suddenly grinds to a halt because the total of 40 fighters (from request and supply routes) seem to be too slow. At this point, the dumbest yet most elaborate solution comes to mind- force turrets. I've pushed the first 4 stations to about 3 km from each other (any closer and I'll have a panic attack trying to slow it back down). Now the cargo fighters travel much less distance, but they're still too slow, and the whole sector now drops my framerate down to 9 fps if I look at a bunch of asteroids in the distance where my mine is at. So what I'm up to right now is looking for materials to craft 0.5MN force turrets to push my coal and ore mines away from the low framerate asteroid belts. That is, except you have a better idea of how to solve my throughput problem. TLDR; Cargo fighters suck at their jobs. Currently pushing production stations together with force turrets to make decent throughput. I'm open for any better ideas.
  4. Wow, I thought all devmode did was give access to infinite jumps and other rather non end-user things (it can be enabled in chat with /devmode, seems easier to access that way)... Now I have my ship back, thank you so much for this!
  5. Yeah, that's why I'm asking for a way to cheat the system and get my ship back. At this point I've built another ship that's way better than the previous one, but all my legendary modules are in the old one, so I'm still open for suggestions. I tried the boarding mod, but it looks like it only works for enemy ships and cargo haulers.
  6. A while ago I was tempted to mess around with the alliance system, created an alliance, but after messing around for a while, I found no use for it in singleplayer. At that point I've added some resources, as well as my primary ship. I click on "Disband Alliance", thinking that it would pop-up a confirmation message and/or warning to what was about to happen. Instead, all the resources in the alliance seem to have disappeared, that's not a big problem, but then I noticed my ship went with it. Out of curiosity, I attempted to exit and then enter it, but all it said was "This craft has no owner". And there I was, stuck outside of my own ship. At this point I realized that there is no way to do this without some sort of trickery. After prolonged searching, I found out that the game supports scripting, but unfortunately I don't have any experience using lua code. So I'm asking for your help, even if it requires me to edit stuff in my appdata, run a command or lua script - basically anything to get back my precious ship. Thanks in advance! TLDR; I disbanded a singleplayer alliance with my ship in it, now i'm stuck outside and need help getting it back (with scripts/commands if possible).
