  1. Thank you guys for your answers! The military bulletin mod looks promising, but I am looking for complete storylines and was hoping for something anybody could just download and play around with so we could get a large collection of story missions from the workshop... Mabye I will post some story ideas to inspiration modders, I don’t know yet. An official tool from the devs would be great but I guess there are more urgent tasks at the moment. I think it would be a great way to help players make the game better by having contests and stuff where the best stories are added to the game permanently...... I am just dreaming around a little :) Thx again!
  2. Heyo! I am not a programmer and I have very limited knowledge of modding, but I always wanted to have player created quests and storylines in the game to make it feel more alive and rpg like... Could someone create a tool that would allow ppl to easily create storylines with some events, which could then be uploaded to the workshop and downloaded by anyone? Would that be possible? Thx in advance for your replies!
  3. What are all these little updates about? There were several small Avorion Updates during the day...
  4. Hey and welcome to the forums! Keep in mind that Avorion is a space game and has been in developement for years already, but is not yet bug free. The problem with planets is that they will, dependant on the way they are implemented, take many of the developers efforts and will problably still not be very statisfying. I would like to have them as well as you and many other players, but I dont want the game to suffer from their addition. Thats why the concept has to be well thought about (and the devs themselves stated that they are not sure whether they want to implement them or not). As you already pointed out, planets could come in with lots of cool features. If you are interested in my own ideas, take a look here: https://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,5572.0.html
  5. A Mac version has been stated as a wish of the devs in the official FAQ and I think I red something about it from a dev here at the forums as well... Mabye you will be enlightened soon?
  6. Did you notice the little link there? No way I am going to click that tho... Just like the other spammy posts made in the last days... I feel like somebody is doing very weird activity in this forums, good thing the devs keep deleting this stuff...
  7. I like the idea of the update, we will see how it turns out in the field...
  8. This has been suggested and discussed several times. I would like to have cloaking in the game, but it should be used to make small ships a viable choice in comparison to big ones, e. g by raising the energy cost exponentially in relation to the ship size. The devs stated that they are not shure whether they want to implement cloaking at all anymore tho, so I would not be very hopeful on that one...
  9. Many players would like a more uniform system, where you can produce turrets, modules and torpedoes similar to fighters. If you are interested in that, you might find this thread informative/inspiring. On the original topic: Looting torpedoes is a planned feature anyways, you just have to be a itttle more patient on that one :)
  10. I red somewhere that you removed the fleet limitation systembecause players didn’t like it. In case you are still looking for ideas on that, I got a new one here: https://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,5477.0.html
  11. So the fleet limiting system was rolled back again, time to think about this topic one more time. How about this: The founding of a new ship could require a new type of MODULE. This module would be permanently installed in a (new and special, it will NOT steal one of your slots) separate slot and you would only get it back when you delete the ship. When the ships is destroyed but you had ensurance, they would send you the module as well as the money, otherwise the module would be lost. Different rarities could give Bonusses like reduced building credit costs or crew payment, or the module could simply be aviable in one rarity. Higher rarity could even be necessary to make the ship a station founder or could affect the loot range. This module could be looted and would be aviable on equipment docks when you reach a specified speed distance to the core. With a system like that, advanced players would have no difficulty to have a fleet while new players would be happy with every new ship they „find“. Obvious disclaimer: Players should always be enabled to have one (1) ship (e.g. by receiving a module per eMail if they don’t have any and no ships, this needs to check alliance inventories as well tho). Another thought on rarities: The rarity could represent the age of a ship. They would only be aviable in the lowest rarity and by the time they would „rank up“ and provide bonuses to the ship. These ranked up modules could even be traded between players or the rank up would require a special, very hard, quest (Potential end game content). Ranking up at research stations would be not possible obviously.
  12. Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh... I support that. But please make it a menu option, not just a console thing.
  13. Sounds great, but doing it at a station should have a significant benefit over it so it is still an option! Mabye the block should need a huge amount of crew to work?
  14. I guess I am dumb, but... ... FOV?
  15. Great idea, but I think it could be solved easier. We could just have the opportunity to free slaves, making them part of our crew or simply disapear (or even become a new type of cargo we can hand over to any station or ship).
  16. I am totally in for a more alive galaxy. Something like this has been suggested several times by many people, including myself. The devs even stated that they know about the issue and are already working of something to make it better, but I would not expect changes in the closer future because the game has more urgent issues... Stay tuned! :)
  17. Mabye we will get some stuff like this with the upcoming sound effects update...
  18. Great to see the „news“ section alive again... I am looking forward to the upcoming changes as the game experience got much smoother with the last updates. Please consider more changes with the music tho, as I would like to have the old combat tracks back in addition to the new ones as well as a greater variety when it comes to the ambient music, because hearing the same two tracks over and over again becomes annoying very soon.
  19. After a while of playing I got to say that the new music system makes the overall game experience worse due to the lack of music tracks. Don’t get me wrong, I like the music. The new ambient soundtracks especially, but after staying in my home sector for a while the always same two tracks being repeated over and over again became more annoying than chilling. Also I loved the old combat music and would like to have these tracks back in addition to the new ones...
  20. There is the Dock block for stations at the moment. „Actual docking of ships and stations“ is mentioned in the official roadmap, so mabye you will get what you want! :)
  21. I dislike 1. Big ships are already overpowered enough. See this thread for ideas. 2 to 5 are nice, 3 is a must have for me. About 6: performance is normally better in fullscree, not in window mode, try a lower resolution mabye...
  22. Ok. I see that i totally did not make my point clear. I do NOT think Boxelware could ever deliver statisfying planets in a sense of a real environment where you can play as in space. I also do not see any benefit for the game in that. In fact, take Space Engineers as an example, where the game was making great progress and then the introduction of planets (which were not planned from begin on) delayed the release by multiple YEARS and shiftet the core gameplay in a direction i did not even like. BUT: the possibility to interact with planets would make a great addition to the game. Since i have not played EVE I will not really anwer to TESL4s post here, but i think he suggests something similar to what I want. I would love to see a possibility to 'land' on planets, i dont care if its done via a station or just an additional interface you unlock once you got transporter upgrades installed (different rarities could allow landing on more difficult planets and make more sense on uninhabited planets tho). But this does not need to be realized by an actual planetary environment, but can be archieved much easier by a fancy menu with nice little dialouges. To show you guys where i got the inspiration for this from, here is a randomly picked video of the game Space Rangers 2, that i have stated as a reference before. I would like something like that in the game to make planets feel like an actual part of the galaxy. WATCH AT 11.16 minutes for the landing on earth in this case. Just skip around a little to get the idea of it: A system that involves planets like this would not be too hard to implement as it just needs the addition of a new menu (mabye with a pretty picture like this one in the vid, different pictures depending on the type of planet) and some interaction options. Like that, planets could technically just be a new type of 'station'... The game would only have to find out wheter the texture includes a planet and of which type that planet is and then provide the related menu. It would be so cool and make the galaxy feel a lot more alive if planets where more than a shiny texture (the textures are looking really good tho). If a fancy picture for the background is not possible, there could even just be a close up on the planet you see in the sector anyways, it should just be a little different from normal stations (or even better: stations should get there own background pictures).
  23. While I feel like the system as we got it now is better, this would clear the „outer regions“ issue (the regions behind your spawn are uninteresting an kind of useless). Therefore I would not mind a change like this, even tho I think these problems could and should be addressed differently... i also like that it Mars the Xsotan not as Common as they are Right now. But honestly, I think the system in Multiplayer is good as it is right now, a singleplayer story (mabye with coop) would be a great feature, but not urgent for a full release, cause I would rather like to have a great game with no Story than a great story in a bugged and unpolished game...
  24. That is exactly what I would not like to see in the game... planets should be unique and allow deep interactions, not just a big asteroid...
  25. Hey there, I know that planets are not a feature that was actually planned to be in the game. I also don't think Boxelware could ever deliver a mechanic where you actually land on planets and do stuff there. Why should they? Avorion is a space game, such an introduction would bring loads of new problems and keep them from fixing much more important issues. So why this thread you ask? Because planets in Avorion are beautifull. I really love the textures and I (and many other people) would love to actually interact with those things. I thougt of a mechanic as in Space Rangers 2 if anyone recognizes that game. Where you somehow land on a planet and then interact in the form of a menu with a pretty picture of a city or a desert or mountains or whatever in the background and are allowed to do different things there. When a player is in a sector with a planet, he should be allowed to land (this would require a transporter upgrade) and do things on the planet (this would even allow the actual use of some trading goods, like how about you 'invest' 100 mining robots in a planet and gain some stuff by that? I do understand that this game has much more urgent issues and I want those to be adressed first. But this is something the devs should keep in mind in my opinion, because there is A LOT of players who want it and I don't imagine it to be very stressfull work to create a new interface with a sparkly picture in the background.
