  1. I said I wouldn't take the time but I did some network monitoring anyway. Prior to this screen shot everything appeared normally. You can see a packet kick off to analytics.avorion.net. Then you see a packet where destination is unreachable . However, this is nothing I can find that indicates why. There is nothing in the network traffic to indicate the problem. Thanks for you comms on this .... I am having fun playing single player :) ... At this point we will see if a future wipe and reload of the box solves it. Edit - Couldn't attach ... too big ... suffice to say there was a packet with unreachable destinition but nothing prior to indicate the problem.
  2. Yes I agree it must be something on this computer. I have tried going naked connected directly to the modem whilst also turning off firewalls and virus protection. It would not seem to be a port issue based on that. However, the fact that I can see chat from other players in real time even after 'losing connection'. perhaps indicates a port issue. .... Perhaps chat runs on a different port then other Steam stuff? So given that everything is cool for 4 minutes it might indicate that something is running in the background that is hitting the game port and causing the lost connection. So I could do packet sniffing and network monitoring but at this point I think it might be time for a box wipe and reload. :)
  3. OK ran another test session ...again after about 4 minutes I cannot place blocks or use other dialog boxes needing mouse clicks. Ping is frozen on last ping when using F1. Interesting enough is that I can still see chats coming in from friends on the server as soon as they send them even after problem presents. I did determine that the following authentication failed messages in the server log are not normal when a player quits the server ... 2020-03-21 10-24-26| Authentication failed for user 76561197986421435. 4. Thanks again for responding .... Yes, it is a hosted server at LOW MS. And I have two boxes as you have noted. The low end media box with the I5 I just used for testing. It connects and runs the game. The 9900K box does not. 2020-03-18 13-12-46| Authentication failed for user 76561197986421435. Reason: Authentication ticket was canceled. 2020-03-18 13-12-46| Authentication error for 76561197986421435: Authentication ticket was canceled. 2020-03-18 13-12-47| Ending authentication session of 76561197986421435 2020-03-18 13-13-02| Client 76561197986421435 lost connection I watched on the web log ... the above only presents in the log after I return to menu to get out of the game. Is that not normal? The logs I attached were downloaded from the hosted server. Is there a local client log? If so, where is that? I will get it and attach.
  5. The problem always manifests in the same fashion regardless of the testing I have done and documented below. I log in and everything is fine. F1 shows ping going from 25ms to 29ms. Consistently at about 4 minutes functions requiring left clicks stop working. I can no longer place a block. I can no longer delete an email. I can no longer found a ship. Etc…. The F1 Ping is no longer oscillating. It appears frozen on whatever was last reported … like 27ms After about 10 minutes the low ping icon presents showing 2500ms + I log off ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My PC (Problem) I9900K 32 GIG RTX 2080TI Avorion Running off G: Drive M2 -------------------------------------------- Media Box (No Problem) I5 4670 16 GIG On board Nvidia GPU Avorion Running on C harddrive -------------------------------------------- Both boxes latest Nvidia Drivers Comcast Internet Provider ARRIS Surfboard 586183 Modem Dlink AC3200 Triband Router Both boxes connect hard wire -------------------------------------------- I have tried two hosting services Low MS PingPerfect My media box and my two friends have no problems on either hosted server. My PC has exactly the same problem on both hosted servers. ------------------------------------------------- Diagnostic Testing I do not have any problems with other online games or other online processes - Taken router out of the equation and connected directly to modem - Totally cleaned box. Ccleaner, Malware Bytes, Webroot Virus Scan. No problems found - Deleted programs I do not need any longer - Shut down all tasks and services I do not need to run Avorion - Took everything off Startup - Tried setting up and running under a new Windows account At this point since my friends and media box can run without problems I have to assume it's something on this PC and perhaps a wipe and reinstall is the only solution. I guess it could be a hardware, chipset, bios issue but I have no other problems. Logs have been provided. Note that "Authentication failed for user 76561197986421435. Reason: Authentication ticket was canceled" error only occurs when returning to Main Menu. serverlog_2020-03-18_13-07-14.txt connection_log_27000.txt
  6. Thank you for responding. I have done additional testing and I will put together a more expanded and definitive response when I get a minute to put it together.
  7. Odd problem .... I set up a couple servers with hosting companies. I have one with PingPerfect and one with LowMS. My friend has no problem connecting in and playing on either. When I connect to either server ping is around 55ms. Everything is fine for maybe 5 minutes. I generally notice the problem starting when I can no longer add blocks to ships. If I wait a few more minutes eventually the low ping indicator comes on reporting 2200 plus ping. I don't have Windows Firewall Running. I turned off my Webroot Virus Protection and Firewall. I have Win 10 with 32GiG and a 9900K and a 2080TI. My tested internet speed is 125MBS down and 13MBS UP. I have not had any issues with other online games. I am not even sure where to look? Any ideas? Any help? Thanks!!
  8. If I build a ship I intend to have Auto Salvage do the turrets have to be independent to work
  9. When entering an otherwise empty system there is sometimes a huge square block displaying. The block cannot be selected or interacted with. It is not always present in all systems that otherwise appear empty and I have not seen it in any systems that have other entities. I would say it is a graphics glitch but it feels like a null, undefined, or otherwise improperly defined entity in the system? I sent a formal bug report with log files. EDIT .. just saw this block in a system that had other stations and entities
  10. The docking mechanism added quite a bit to the overall sense of immersion for me. I like it. The key here is really being able to control your ship well which is directly related to how maneuverable it is, which in turn is directly related to your build. Make sure you build enough thrusters AND position them well to improve your breaking thrust, pitch, roll and yaw. When those stats are in the white in the build mode it just means you have the minimum required for maneuver. The other thing you can do is turn the collision damage down. The default value of 1 can be quite unforgiving .....
  11. I would agree this is currently a pain. Basically you have to take them all off and then put the ones you want (better one) back on...
  12. Probably not much help here but just sharing I had a similar problem when setting up a hosted server with PingPerfect. Initially when adding the server to the browser it would just sit there Refreshing and not show online. Looking at my logs I noted that connection closed error as well. However, somehow PingPerfect fixed it and I believe it was related to using the latest patch ... I think 1/28/2017. The admin was saying something about the new version allowing configuring ports whereas the old version did not. The interesting thing is I still get that closed connection error in my log on server startup but it works and I can connect to it. log excerpt from startup .... 13. Thanks for the response! I will give it a go.
