  1. Apparently the salvage yard considers the Xsotan their property ;D Can we get a fix for this though. it's kind of pants on head silly to have to pay the salvage yard for permission to engage hostiles. IF you can even do so because they won't talk to you with bad relations
  2. To add to this, as it's related: It also doesn't make sense when Faction A is fighting Faction B, faction A gets upset with you when you destroy a civil ship of faction B, even though they happily murder those themselves. Hypocrites ::)
  3. So I found a wormhole that landed inside the barrier rift around the galactic core: http://i.imgur.com/7O62TIn.jpg (top right) From that sector I was allowed to jump inside the core (or out if I wanted). I don't think wormholes are supposed to land inside rifts, least of all the barrier :)
  4. nice mod. wonder why this isn't in the game
  5. this. I'm a huge sucker for having massive super carriers, acting as your mobile base of operations. Jump to a new sector, undock your fighter/miner/trader and do stuff... Just look at Empyrion and Space Engineers, or even X3. I would love to see this in Avorion. Would definitely help not having to deconstruct mining ships only to reconstruct them elsewhere because moving them around is more of a pain than simply rebuilding them.
  6. Soooo, solar panels scale with surface. There's also nothing stopping me from making a giant stack of 0.01 thick panels to generate more power than a generator of equal volume would generate, all the while being much lighter. Sure it costs considerably more credits/mineral, and probably lags things (stack of 1000 panels, ewww)... I think they should have a minimum thickness to work.
  7. Hah, I just discovered this myself. A system had a gate close to a wormhole so I made a copy of my galaxy and pushed the gate into the wormhole. I guess I expected a crash. To my surprise it worked fine. And thus I came here to see if anyone else did this. Fun stuff! That said, I think gates should not be movable objects (griefing, etc).
  8. Any chance of a realistic wormhole graphic like this? http://www.spacetimetravel.org/wurmlochflug/wurmlochflug.html You even get to keep the "see what's on the other end" trait, but it looks like a proper hole in space instead of a 2 dimensional sprite that always faces the camera (it looks cheap)
  9. Great! I've posted a workaround for my specific case in the other thread in the mean time ;) Thanks for the update!
  10. I have created a workaround for my instance of this issue Which means this workaround is for those that linked their entire windows user folder elsewhere What this procedure does is make it so the game never has to resolve any symlink and thus won't choke on them. ---------------------------------------------- Place this script in your Avorion folder, call it AvorionStart.bat: @echo off set USERPROFILE=X:\USERS\username call %* Change X:\USERS\username to match the true location of your user folder. Now go to steam, into Avorion's properties, and set the launch options to read: AvorionStart.bat %command% You can now launch Avorion as normal. Note that this will cause a shell window to open when you run the game. This can't really be helped without a more elaborate solution, so just ignore it. You might be able to fiddle with it if you have a different symlink setup, through setting the APPDATA environment variable in the script, but don't get your hopes up. It certainly won't fix a case like Laserzwei's where one symlinked stuff deeper than the Avorion appdata root folder itself. (This problem should of course still be fixed by the devs).
  11. Initializing sector database... Initializing faction database... An exception occurred: boost::filesystem::read_symlink: The request is not supported: "C:/Users\Entity" terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error' what(): Error cleaning up lua::WorkerPool: shutdown() not called! Same issue? I can't load any saves... I have linked my users folder to another drive.
  12. Bought the game, started a single player game last night. Had some fun. Tried loading it again today, AvorionServer.exe crashes immediately. Server log: https://pastebin.com/raw/FdFbBp3v Client log: https://pastebin.com/raw/HqXrLYBs I've narrowed the problem down to the Player folder, renaming it out of the way loads the save succesfully (but obviously resets my progress) I have a zipped backup of the galaxy available in case a dev is interested. System specs: Win7 / i7-3770k 32GB / GTX970 4GB Edit: Any game I save exhibits the same problem. Even a newly created galaxy, saving it as soon as I'm ingame, restarting the game, reloading the save immediately crashes the server. Edit: it appears to be https://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,3526.0.html
