  1. For all intents and purposes the mod is fully functional. all stocks are up by 10 times allowing access to some serious firepower, at high cost, as in base game but ten times over. makes outfitting ships significantly easier. The fact you cant scroll in the menus is a downer but its still good.
  2. TEN THOUSAND THANKS to thee Senpai! Much much MUCH appreciated :)
  3. request for scripts or tutorial on how to upgrade the factories or stations to have MORE stock available for sale to the player. the amount of equipment available in stations just simply is NOT enough to build a large enough fleet or powerful enough ship. Even with salvaging wreckage areas, killing pirates and repeatedly logging in or logging out of the area to buy buy buy just does not cut it. Also it would e nice to have a lot more of the same turret type available for outfitting because OCD. http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php?topic=1560.0 i found this script in the mods section but NO download or actual tutorial on how to do it is supplied, just some vague additions to a few lua scripts - which i do not know how they function or for that matter am not willing to screw around with. please post a modified script selection with these parameters. just give us scripts with these additions in them, show us how you modified them and we can do as we need on our own. Thanks in advance.
  4. http://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php/topic,2878.msg15358.html#msg15358 this mod here supplies commands for a set of gear with commands in the cheat menu. I have a request. Using that framework of console commands I.E. /spawnturret or /spawnthingymajingy to allow the player to spawn in a starter kit with a command that can only be used once per player or a set amount of time to pass inbetween commands. for example /startkit - adds the following to inventory Iron mining lasers, chainguns, salvaging lasers, maybe a random selection of very low quality systems and other such things. A starterkit that can be modified by admins for their own use. Say for example if an admin in a server wants to hold an event, he can create a similar command to /starterkit called /pvpduelship which adds to player inventories enough cash, materials, and a selection of weapons to use exclusively during these events. Or something like that. Can anybody give this a shot?
  5. First of all, i have edited the original post, its obvious by your reply i was not even close to clear on the intent for the thread. This was originally a experiment guide for SHIPBUILDERS to help them figure out what kinds of minimum parameters they would need to create some ships specifically for station building should they ever want to do that. My apologies if i wasted your time :) To answer your questions, Scaling is important because of SILLINESS and CREW SIZE. I have included SCALING as a parameter because i'm checking to see what kind of scale is needed for a 'realistic' feel to a station. Its just an experiment to see what kind of stuff is actually viable for not only functionality but also aesthetic. Firstly, if you have a dinky little dinghy and convert into a solar array, first of all its going to look absolutely silly, with a tiny little station sporting this HUUUUGE array of solar cells. Thats... silly and lets face it very unrealistic. Immersion is key. Secondly, as the data suggests crew size is important because depending on the factory you build the crew you need usually jumps up 50-100 people. Crew cap is vital and if you build stations with defensive capabilities (whenever the devs add that in to the game anyway) crew cap is even more important, making scale a factor in the data because more crews quarters are required. As for your questions: Things i'm curious about include: 1. If your logged out and another player is in a sector with your factory, do your crew draw a salary from your credit pool while that sector is active, even though your not in game? 2. If other players purchase from your factories, do you get paid in credits for the transactions? 3. When logging out and giving orders to "guard this position" to sentry ships in the area of your factories, will they protect your factory chain for you will your logged out? I'm afraid i cannot answer this. I'm too much of a coward to play multiplayer, so i cant provide answers. If you can recommend servers that are PvE only and active, please do i'd love to give it a shot. As for the last question, i dont know but it seems like a sound thing to do so we can only hope that its the case.
  6. Like, Hello there. As beautiful as the ships people are building are there is a VERY distinct lack of dedicated stations and stationary facilities in game. But i have noticed that a LOT of ships require some serious clout and supply when building stations, so i decided to run some experiments to help out the creative community when building stations or other stuffs. This is the result of those experiments. (EDIT) I didnt make it clear enough so i'm editing the original post. THIS IS NOT AN EXPERIMENT ON FACTORY PRODUCTION MECHANICS. I REPEAT NOT AN EXPERIMENT ON FACTORY MECHANICS. This is an experiment on SHIPBUILDING STATISTICS to help as a BASIC GUIDE FOR BUILDING SHIPS THAT WILL LATER BE CONVERTED INTO FACTORIES. This is why the thread is in the Creations forum specifically. The statistics and scaling and all such is presented as a testing guide to help those who CREATE ships and stations to give them an idea on what to expect in game when they make their creations. I apologize if i failed to make this clear enough :) PLEASE NOTE THIS IS JUST AN EXPERIMENT. THIS SERVES AS NOTHING MORE THAN A BASIS OF RECORDED DATA TO USE AS A BUILDING GUIDE FOR STATIONS AND STUFF. I AM YET TO FIND ANY REAL DATA FOR SHIPBUILDING, SO THIS IS JUST A FIRST GO TEST RUN FOR FINDING THE OPTIMAL PARAMETERS FOR MAKING A STATION BUILDING GUIDE FOR CREATORS. USE, ADD AND ADAPT THIS THREAD AS YOU SEE FIT. EXPERIMENT DETAILS ALL DONE IN SURVIVAL MODE FOR MAX ACCURACY ALL DONE IN SINGLEPLAYER (as im too much of a chicken for multi) ALL BUILT FROM SHIPYARD IN SURVIVAL MODE ONE BY ONE FOR MAXIMUM ACCURACY Five of the exact same ships, built from the same shipyard piece by piece on the same seed. Each ship is max scale, max volume, built from specified materials. Each ship is converted into specified base structure and the changes to ship stats are recorded. EXPERIMENT START: NAME: TEST1 BASE MAX CREW: 8500 MIN CREW: 885 ENERGY GEN: 0.19TW REQUIRED ENERGY: 0.16TW VOLUME: 41.46mill m3 $$$ COST: 5 283 323 MATERIAL COST: 574 699 IRON 140 064 TITANIUM ********************************** ********************************** ********************************** EXPERIMENT RESULT: NAME: TEST1 Solar Array MAX CREW: 8500 MIN CREW: 956 ENERGY GEN: 0.26TW REQUIRED ENERGY: 43.06GW VOLUME: 47.92 mill m3 $$$ COST: 9 183 323 EXPERIMENT RESULT: NAME: TEST1 Glass MAX CREW: 8500 MIN CREW: 929 ENERGY GEN: 0.19 TW REQUIRED ENERGY: 43.1GW VOLUME: 46.01mill m3 $$$ COST: 8 751 323 EXPERIMENT RESULT: NAME: TEST1 Microchip MAX CREW: 8500 MIN CREW: 932 ENERGY GEN: 0.19TW REQUIRED ENERGY: 43.1GW VOLUME: 46.26mill m3 $$$ COST: 8 836 823 EXPERIMENT RESULT: NAME: TEST1 TeslaCoil MAX CREW: 8500 MIN CREW: 932 ENERGY GEN: 0.19TW REQUIRED ENERGY: 43.1GW VOLUME: 46.26mill m3 $$$ COST: 31 741 823 CONCLUSION: Cost Increases - SERIOUS clout is needed for building stations obviously :) MINIMUM crew requirement increases - requires a good solid amount of crew capacity and space before and after ship conversion. Not only does the ship itself need crew, but the new function of the ship needs crew, forcing new crew to be added after each conversion. Power Output increases or decreases depending on station - solar farm and other stations produced or drew more power based on functionality. Power draw decreases substantially - ship no longer uses hyperdrive or thrusters or stabilisers, so power draw is almost cut in half. IF YOU WANT TO INCLUDE MORE PARAMETERS FOR TESTING, PLEASE TELL ME AND I WILL CONDUCT THE TESTS SO YOU DONT HAVE TO. IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME THE WAY I DO IT.
  7. Battleship Sized as in Has MINIMUM nine system slots by default. thats Battleship sized in MY mind (havent been playing long) but the actual definition might be different for others. thats my ideal warship, nine slots for subsystems. Suits my playstyle. Minimum crew specs are because i often use my flagship as an emergency crew ferry when setting up new stations for my production. it helps to have a few extra hands or space available. AND lets not forget that it is after all a battleship. it needs a lot of people to hold all of the GUNZ. Okay, i havent been playing the game for that long so my understanding of materials is screwy. The point was i wanted the ship to be physically IN the game so i could modify it as i go, same as with my previous requests of Big Red and Big Blue. I wanted them all iron so i could start off with them early on and modify them piecemeal as i played the game. I like the idea of an all-in-one flagship. Go for any material you like but frankly, i like the ability to modify and change as is necessary as i play, so my thoughts are to make it supercheap crappy iron, then work within the limits of resources as the game goes on. Thats how i play space engineers or any other voxel-y build-y game. I use other peoples work then modify it to my needs as i go. I spawn in an empty shell, then modify it according to the situation i am presented with. I mke things unintentionally harder for myself as the situation goes because i generally have to work WITHIN existing limits of whatever i am presented with. I'm a salvager, wrecker and modifier, i cant do jack by myself (at least nothing that doesnt makes you vomit). Seriously. some of my designs in the past would have made your eyes bleed. (i am NOT joking.) As for fighters? Entirely optional, i dont use them generally, i prefer brutal force of base armaments and guns based on my playstyle so i dont really know. Go with your gut. Bonus holding Q? dont know how that works. i have the attention span of a brick wall, that bit escaped me during tutorials and forum stuff. i'll re-read and see if i can try that. I know theres a star destroyer, but i didnt want a star destroyer. already have its XML file, alrdy thanked the author. I wanted to do something unique and peculiar.... because reasons. Mostly a slow descent into madness. The Venator Olympia is my SE flagship, i spent fourteen hours on it trying to get it JUUUUUUUST right, i'm damn proud of it. The Venator is my favorite sci-fi ship, i dont know why, i just really love it. So i tried to fit something that i enjoy onto it. Make it bigger, sleeker, give it a bit more KAPOWZ. THAT took me FOURTEEN HOURS. working from bits of other ships and stations gathered from the workshop. FOURTEEN HOURS, to do THAT. I clearly dont have the skills, patience or imagination. Why repeatedly fail miserably to create laughable attempts at what you love when you can simply let other people - who not only enjoy it more than you but are a hundred times better than you - do it for you? Thats why people buy art. Those who cant DO it - BUY from those who can. Sad sappy personal identity story concluded. Im sorry if i bored you. As for that 3d voxel thing? I dont have the time to learn it. I barely play my games anymore as it is. If i get the time, i'll give it a try.
  8. HELLO Avorion Peoples! I have this day, to put forth to all of thee, a CHALLENGE. Yes, a CHALLENGE. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=927464848 This is a thing i built in Space Engineers. I CHALLENGE shipbuilders in Avorion to reconstruct it and turn it into a FULLY FUNCTIONAL ship. CRITERIA: MUST BE BATTLESHIP SIZED MATERIALS CAN BE TITANIUM, TRINIUM AND NAONITE, BUT NOTHING MORE OR LESS. MUST HAVE MINIMUM 3500 CREW SPACE MUST HAVE MINIMUM 10000 CARGO SPACE MUST HAVE SHIELD MUST GENERATE MINIMUM 8TW ENERGY MUST HAVE HANGAR BAY WITH MINIMUM 20 FIGHTERS SPACE XML MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD ON FORUM MUST HAVE NO PROBLEMS IN GAME (bad braking thrust, poor turning etc) BONUS POINTS IF YOU MAKE A SMALLER FRIGATE SIZED VERSION JUST FOR LAUGHS :):):) What do you get if you complete the challenge? I dunno... make yourself a cup of celebratory coffee or get ice cream or somming i dunno... TO ALL: I APOLOGIZE for the low resolution screenshots available on the workshop page - my PC cannot handle anything better, so try your best.
  9. Well that would be ridiculously difficult i'm afraid, sadly the blueprint itself is VERY old and is also modded with mods that have been deleted due to sheer age. I'm waiting for confirmation from the original author if i can repost it in game as a vanilla blueprint, see if i can rebuild it or something and reupload it for you. I can however say that the Penitence definitely IS a pimped out version of Big Red, the ORIGINAL Big Red BEFORE the SE Oxygen Update, so this is quite the find. i'm working on it in game to TRY - emphasis on TRY - to make it a bit better looking and smooth out edges and such like, but i can make no promises. As previously stated i'm NOT good at this stuff. Theres also NEW versions of Big Red AND Big Blue thanks to SE going full beta - plus MANY different but equally beautiful fan made versions of those two ships, its amazing to look at the progress SE has gone through since the start. Sadly at the moment of this writing SE workshop has decided to crap itself and die, so i cant supply any examples :(
  10. TEN TRILLION THANKS TO YOU ALL!!!! To be absolutely honest, Iron building request was so that i could use it as a starter ship early game, then slowly upgrade it bit by bit when i got access to better materials. Use it as my fleet flagship basically, just a general 'hi-sec' cruiser to sod around with while i build up something that can actually be all shooty bashy stabby crashy to all the 'lowsec' nasties out near the galaxy center. Big Blue i can VERY easily modify to be a cargo/crew carrier for setting up stations and factories, while Big Red can be one hell of a startup gunship. Its just a matter of taking bits and pieces off here and adding a few others or changing block mats, i've gotten VERY good at modifying existing ships, but every attempt thus far to create my own unique vehicle has been met with OH MY FARKING GAWD KILL IT WITH FIRE SO FUGLY OMG *HEART ATTACK* quality vessels. The way i build ships in Space Engineers is VERY, VERY different. What i do is i collect other ships, CHOP THEM UP, then copy paste the chopped off bits onto another hull, creating a unique/notatallreallythatunique ship. My designs are usually cruiser or battleship sized. Ironic isnt it? I'm absolutely bloody awful at these kinds of games - but theyre the only ones i consider worth playing. wierd huh? Still, thanks to all who tried, thanks to all who succeeded, and yes i know about the ACI combat series.... I have ALL of those ships in my SE blueprints folder and even used a few chopped off bits on one of my own ships. Beautiful ships those. I will however say, my favorite ship EVER is the Jedi Venator Star Cruiser from you-know-damn-well-where. Big Red and Big Blue just needed to be done, theyre iconic ships. Also.... i have THIS in my SE blueprint folder: Its a VERY old design but it is essentially a PIMP'T OWT version of Big Red (at least from my perspective) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=325540826&searchtext=penitence+of+solace If you like you could give this a shot too. Its slightly larger, more powerful and fancier, sort of like a 'luxury' version of Big Red. I quite enjoyed chopping it up in game :)
  11. ABSOLUTELY EPIC AWESOMENESS Trillion times better than anything I've so far attempted from looks alone. Bigger blocks and other stuff would be perfect, my pc doesnt seem to be as good as i'd hoped at running anyuthing despite it being above spec, so any lag saving measures would indeed be wonderful. beautiful :)
  12. Hello! I have a request for shipbuilders who have played another game called Space Engineers. Do you remember the iconic ships built by Keen Software House (KSH) as seen in trailers, main menu and gameplay vids on youtube? i have been trying repeatedly and unsuccessfully to try replicate them in game, making me realize just how completely bloody rubbish i am at Avorion. Seven hours of hard work and faffing about with block after block has produced a rubbish... blocky... messy... thingamajig of a.... a thing. I've realised i'm absolutely rubbish at shipbuilding and have decided to give up trying... because reasons. The point, would anyone out there with ANY skill at all supply me with an IRON ONLY replica of KSHs Iconic Big Red (Red Ship) http://publish.illinois.edu/digitalmaking/files/2015/02/space_engineers_red_ship_screenshot.jpg And an Iron Replica of KSHs Iconic Big Blue (Blue Ship) http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/spaceengineers/images/3/36/Blue_2_isometric.png/revision/latest?cb=20140526002651 Can you make them at LEAST the size of a Cruiser or Battlecruiser (min 6 system slots) and make them entirely out of iron? I don't need any serious details like armor plating or lights or other fancy bits just the shape and shell of the ship, but if you can put in any details, i'll be greatly appreciative :) ;D
  13. At present Equipment dock are simply not worth the effort. For me, they simply dont supply the necessary quantity of equipment thats necessary for large fleets or empires. I dont much care about quality, just quantity and thus far the BEST i've come across is a station that sells fourteen turrets and twelve systems - total. Not barely enough for my needs. Can someone create this mod please? Quality of materials is optional, dont care much i hunt pirates and scrapyards for quality stuff, thats what the fun is, but quantity is what i need.
