  1. With Xanion blocks for whatever looks aesthetically pleasing, heh. Though most of the time if I'm not ready for a major overhaul of my ship I will just use a framework block that's super thin and just wide enough to place the weapon down.
  2. Agreed, really seems like it should be part of the base game. A few thoughts on balance: Require a minimum amount of positive standing with a faction. -influenced by faction traits "mistrustful/naive/etc.." -influenced by distance from hostile factions. -influenced by distance from center. Somewhat expensive to prohibit people from just changing homes on a whim. -influenced by distance to the center, center being more expensive than fringe. -influenced by standing over the required minimum. Require a station in the sector. -This could maybe even be a player station, since those are pretty expensive to begin with. -If station is not present (destroyed), home sector is moved to closest known "Prime" sector that you meet the standing requirements of 'home eligible' for one time only, then resets to beginning.
  3. Definitely support a RTS mode one button switch. I'm gonna wear out my mouse wheel!
  4. My router.. I feel like an idiot. I'm so very sorry. I went to check the ports again, for the umpteenth time. And here's how I had them listed: 27000 thru 27003 TCP/UDP 27020 thru 27021 TCP/UDP And decided.. okay I'll put them in separate, just for the hell of it. 27000 TCP/UDP 27003 TCP/UDP 27020 thru 27021 TCP/UDP ....and it works. I even have Sadistic connected to it. I didn't think there'd be any harm in adding a few extra ports to the range... I guess there was. :/
  5. Okay so I did the super basic command line launch with just --datapath --admin -t network commands. Got the same stuff connecting to my external IP. For giggles did my local IP and it connects. Had SadisticSweety attempt to connect to it, nothing in the log either. So the only connection info you'll see on the server is when I connected with my local IP. Logs for all below. Server Local IP External IP
  6. I guess that begs the question of what is the proper way to start the server? Because I've just been doing it through the game menu and there's no option for command line. Or do I just edit and run the server.bat from the Avorion install folder? What I did do just now was edit the server.bat to add in the "-t network" and load the existing server. Still had the same results. However when I checked the dedicated server menu in game it told me that the server was running, but the reliable information about the server couldn't be found. All of the boxes of server info/settings were blank. If I start it up from in game, I still get the same stuff as before. Not sure if I'm starting appropriately at this point.
  7. I noticed in the server list that the dedicated host we played on last night showed up instantly with green "online". Mine took a while to refresh and still showed yellow "online." Multiplayer Host - No Firewall Still unreachable. No connections in log other than my own. Dedicated Host - No firewall. Still unreachable. No connections in log.
  8. Not sure about the LAN, I'll give it a go tomorrow. Windows Firewall should be the only thing in the way. I'll also try turning it off entirely tomorrow. Do you have an sort of traffic monitoring programs in mind that I could check traffic on the ports?
  9. Singleplayer is working. We're actually on someone elses dedicated server as well. So it seems to be okay from that side of things. As far as sniffing, I'm not sure if there's someway else I should check, I checked ports online from this site: http://www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php options were - connect(), Don't Ping, UDP Scan and got these results: Host is up. (on all checks) PORT STATE SERVICE 27000/tcp filtered flexlm0 27000/udp open|filtered unknown 27020/tcp filtered unknown 27020/udp open|filtered unknown 27021/tcp filtered unknown 27021/udp open|filtered unknown 27003/tcp filtered flexlm3 27003/udp open|filtered flex-lm
  10. Can't seem to get multiplayer to work. I've forwarded ports and checked for firewall exceptions, here are the logs and types of connecting we've tried. Multiplayer Host Log Friend gets 'Server Unreachable' Dedicated Host Log Both my friend and I get 'server unreachable' 1st Run - Only Port 27000 forwarded 2nd Run - Port 27000, 27021, 27020, 27003 forwarded Friend gets 'server unreachable' I also get 'server unreachable' Server shows up as Online in yellow on the server list. It sees it, but wont respond.
