  1. Well, wanted to record this somewhere before I forgot. This was technically last night in my single player game. See, currently I've got what might be classified a Destroyer. She's not the biggest ship, or the fanciest, but I'm planning on building her up to a Battleship sooner or later. My problem last night was, I was near the outer edge of the Galactic Core, using an upgraded Radar to search for hidden mass sectors, so I could mine more Xanion and Trinium. Only to discover this particular sector was hidden because it was a base of operations for a group of pirates. Pirates who had roughly three Battleships and a mixed bag of Destroyers and Cruisers on top of the usual small fries pirates field, *and* a shipyard to boot. Now I didn't think much of it since...well, before, I made up for being outnumbered by outgunning anything I came across by a large degree. The problem lay in all the ships here possessing shielding I wasn't breaking through in any timely manner whatsoever. So after wrecking roughly three of their Cruisers they had my shields completely drained. Rather than eat any costs for repairs at that point I, and I quoth the Yahtzee, 'ran like a man in an expensive suit from a Teppanyaki restaurant' to a new, more quiet sector to recuperate and try easier prospects. That was when I got the "subspace signals" alert. I didn't think much of it and just continued mining away. Then I got the secondary alert warning me that the subspace signals were overwhelming my scanners. That was when I got the evil idea...and quickly warped back to the pirate base. See, I'm thinking the Xsotan at this time decided to send a larger fleet due in part to earlier having sent a small group while I was dancing the Foxtrot with Charlie the pirates, only to get overwhelmed by all the pirate ships as well. This time they came out in force, of which I gave a wide berth to while the pirates came in to engage them...leaving me free to destroy the pirate's Shipyard, a gaggle of reinforcements, and a few more Cruisers that came my way before I was free to fly back and wail on the two remaining Battleships while both they and their escorts were occupied by the Xsotan. By the time the pirates had the Xsotan beaten down to scrap there was little else the pirates had left that could muster enough resistance against my Destroyer, letting me make semi-swift work of them. And then the sector and all those Trinium-rich pirate ships were miiiiine. Mwahahahahaha! ...and then not even a fourth of the way through my pillaging I just had to get drawn off by a fake distress signal only to come back to find all my scrap gone. Still, I thought this encounter good fun and funny enough to share so...
  2. Hello, Tank here; don't quite remember how I came upon Avorion or why I decided to get it first rather than Starmade but here I am now having logged a very non-zero amount of hours on the game according to Steam. But since I'm not on my rig I can't give an exact number just yet. Just that I might have a small addiction problem when it comes to this game. Heh...
