Do I take this as proof that AI counts wrecks, at least scrapyard wrecks, as asteroids?

To show i'm not completely lazy, I have proof here. The Laser Turrets are especially damning: 2.2km effective range, 6.4km advertised range. That's slightly more than a third of its supposed range. Anyone else notice this issue?

Self-explanatory. I have mining, salvaging, and regular laser turrets all with more than 1km range, but I feel that I have to get much, much closer to my target for them to work. My laser turrets have 6km range, and I have to get within 2km range for them to hit. It's also visibly shorter than it should be. Is this a bug, or were lasers never meant to be more than 1km long? I hope the former...
