  1. So my current gripe with the map UI when ordering captains to do something later on becomes somewhat cluttered and making the same order for multiple captains becomes somewhat tedious so i have thought of an idea that could deal with this in the form of fleets where you can assign one captain to be the leader think of it like a anchor for all ships to follow and mimic there orders as well as assign formations to the leader that will act as the head of the formation. This would also have its own currency called authority to how many ships can be under the command of the leader but also open a path for a new type of captain class called commodore who will have more authority thus able to have more captains under his command but this commodore will have a unique skill that acts as a aura to all other ships within its command boosting there effectiveness. Now with such a thing it would feel somewhat OP so to counter this with penalty's to those who add to many ships to a fleet beyond the authority or have captains that are higher rank then the leader causing a debuff to all ships in the fleet this is because the ones who are of higher rank do not feel as if they should be taking orders from someone lower then them as for having too many ships causes cohesion within the fleet to falter similar to how crew strike on a ship. Now if a leader is destroyed this will cause all ships to retreat as well as the group be disbanded due to the loss of a leader incentivizing people to protect the flag ship being the ship with the leader on it as well as for some good cinematic role playing of a fleet going into panic as if the battle is completely lost. This system would also add a layer of RTS to the game too specially in multiplayer games. Now as for the UI on the map for a fleet would be a banner that can be customized for players to give a identity to the fleet on its creation when selecting a ship to be the leader with a function to also save it so people can copy and paste it for other fleets on the fleet it would have the lead ships and be able to be opened and closed to show what ships are part of that fleet thus reducing the number of captains on the map UI that are visible and breaking it down into smaller groupings. Also you can assign fleets to stations the downside is your fleet is restricted to patrol based on how many warp distance the station can do this in essence allows you to make a fleet that is designed to guard sectors the station though will be stuck in its system yet will send those in its fleet to patrol.
  2. So the idea is when painting the ship during creation why not add a system in the paint menu named pallet theme the following options in the menu would be. Primary paint Secondary paint Tertiary paint Example : Effectively if you paint areas of the ship with the primary paint then go in the pallet theme menu changing the color on it would in turn effect all areas marked with the primary paint.
  3. So i was wondering if we could change the M menu for the ships tab on the right to emblem as well as ship management rather then a picture of the ship (unless the ship is unassigned to a fleet) to signify a grouping of ships instead of having every single ship open and i think i got a way to condense it down by a hierarchy system similar to how programs use a "master" and "slave" system to put captains/ships in groupings that if that captain the highest in the hierarchy does a mission all others follow it by there assigned capability. If its a miner they aid with increased amount mined if its a escort they provide support and if its a cargo ship they provide bigger volume of storage as a specialized if a ship as a docking with more cargo and a mining ship with limited cargo are in the same fleet the mining ship will prioritizing sending materials to the cargo ship to empty its own cargo when its full till its full and the cargo ship is full think of it like in "eve online" with haulers taking the ore from miners. As for hierarchy it would go something like this. Captain A (miner) + Captain B (fighter) + provide escort + Captain C (miner) + adds to yield On the ship manager menu it would simply be right click a ship and assign a emblem for that squad this ship would now by all means be considered the fleet leader then simply drag and drop ships into the fleet to compress or open the ships in the fleet merely click the emblem to show all available ships. Now the capacity of ships in a fleet would depend purely on the tier of the captain of said fleet for tier 1 they could have up to 4 additional ships for example even with traits that can increase or decrees this number and every tier beyond tier 1 would gain +2 additional ships to command. Also i suggest a new type of captain called officer that only serves to be a cheaper captain but can only ever function if assigned to a fleet you yourself are already classified as a fleet with a special emblem called "player" that will have its own cap of fleets to command under your wing. (Additional idea if this does go partly though is have a command block designed to increase the capability of giving orders thus allowing more ships to command but this idea was somewhat scrapped due to how easily abused it would get. It was an idea to make a centralized flagship or commonly known as a command ship designed more in line to have higher number of ships under its command.)
