  1. I would like to see hotkeys to command my ships and fighters. And being able to assign squadrons to groups. For example I hit '3' and all my salvage fighter squadrons are selected. Than I could hit 'F1' to attack target, 'F2' to protect target and 'F3' to return to ship. Other ships in the fleet could be assigned groups in the Fleet tab. But their groups would be selected with the F keys. For example I assign two of my mining ships to 'F1'. When I enter a sector I hit 'F1' to select them and then 'F4' to send them mine. When I need to leave the sector I select them again and hit 'F3' to escort me (I don't remember the current order of commands in the game). This system works in Mount and Blade and it is great for quickly giving many orders.
  2. I'm not too keen on starting new complicated builds now, because the game mechanics and features are changing. But I built a capital ship for my campaign needs and I was feeling like sharing it. Enjoy.
  3. I had a break from Avorion, but when I return to the forum to upload my new ship, I see that you added more beautiful creations. But please make your future ships more flyable. Triing to stop with your Dautless is kinda painfull. You can use inertia dumpeners or convert some of the armor into regular hull. I updated my own Dauntless if you want something to compete against :) (even though yours is twice as expensive and has much stronger shields). Btw I was really tempted to steal your engine nozzle breaks and parts of the bow. Would you mind?
  4. The Daedalus is surprisingly small. It is the size of the Iowa class battleship. Only 271 meters long. Just saying.
  5. I can see one big hangar in the back on the Nemesis. Are those also hangars behind the macrocannon battery?
  6. I built another ship. Sorry, it is not a W40k ship. You see, I wanted large squadrons of fighters and there are not many dedicated fighter carriers in Warhammer.
  7. First I try to determine scale of the ship. When you write "W40k ships" into google, you can find most of the ships in one image and compare them to each other. Then I set length af a ship section I want to build in single blocks (0,5 scale so far). Find images of the ship from different angles. The start is the most difficult, because I can't compare the ship to itself, but once you have a section done, the other ones are easier. Most importantly try to copy the ratios and angles.
  8. Hit the Windows button + R, type %appdata% A window opens. Find Avorion/ships and paste it in there.
  9. Having an option to automatically use our ship's main engines to slow down definitely seems like cheating, especially if you don't expect the ship to have to do a 180 and face the opposite direction. Anyway, such an option would pretty much defeat the purpose of having a Brake Thrust stat and diminish the importance of good Thrusters. If you think ships in Avorion are hard to steer and maneuver, then you must never have tried one of the Elite games. Of course you would have to do the 180 degree turn and than the engine would activate without you holding the button and possibly increasing nominal velocity or overfiring.
  10. I might build one of those eventually.
  11. I think that sooner or later the community will supply all the cool ships. I will build a titanium/neonite ship that can fill in the gap between the Cobra and the Dauntless hopefully soonish.Than I will actually play the game (I don't even have the Dauntless yet) and than I'll think about some mighty battleship when I need a better ship. I might build an original ship that ressembles W40k imperial navy, but better suits my playstyle and the game mechanics.
  12. The keyboard mode you switch to with F2. I would like to use it because battleships feel much better like that but it is awful atm.
  13. The mouse mode is good and all, but once you build a larger, longer ship it becomes impractical as you crash into stuff when you need to look at something that is not in front of you. The fact that default key for free look is "Ctrl" and you have to press it with your pinky doesn't help. It should be something you can use with your thumb, like the "Left Alt" that is currently taken by camera displacement that is not used very often and could be something like "K" or swapped for "Ctrl'. I can rebind that so not a big deal. But it is not desirable for your big ship to follow your mouse. Another reason to use the keyboard mode is that you can use a more creative gun placement that to stick everything in the front or as high as possible. Also it is very cool to see your guns firing from different places at the ship in my opinion. The keyboard mode just feels better for when controlling a big battleship. But the current keyboard mode is not up to the task at the moment. So here are some simple suggestions to improve it. The guns should follow the center of the screen (by default) as they do in the mouse mode. Look at World of Warships. Something like that (let's be honest, they have good battleship controls). Make strafing in the keyboard mode possible and bindable. I know that there is not much more buttons around the left hand but it would help immensely with docking and collision avoidance. Even if these buttons were unbound by default. If I could bind it now I would set it to my thumb mouse buttons
  14. Classical battleships definitely have place in this game. The control scheme (the second one) that suits these ships needs a little bit of work to and than it will be even cooler. Also, have you found your HE spam weapon yet Magma?
