Saying hi in the welcome tread, but it is long and I am not sure if it is even read by people

Can any one tell me if I am doing something wrong? I am following the Trading Instructions quest\mission, added 250 (and more) cargo space, got the grayed out text to say that objective complete Then it says to buy goods from a trader, have bought lots of good from many stations but never go the objective..am I supposed to be buying form somewhere else? is it bugged, Has any one done this before?
